Longhu Mountain

Longhushan (Lóng hǔ shān 龍虎山) Mountain is the birthplace of Chinese Taoism, located in Yingtan (yīng tán 鷹潭) of Jiangxi (jiāng xī 江西). In the east of the Mochou Road (mò chóu lù 莫愁路) towards the Water West Gate (shuǐ xī mén 水西門), there lies a towering palace with yellow glazed tiles and red walls on the Yecheng mountain (yě chéng shān 冶城山), setting among the green trees. This is the famous imposing Chaotian Palace (cháo tiān gōng 朝天宮), a group of ancient palace-style buildings which has the highest level, the largest scale and the most complete preservation in the south of the Yangze River (cháng jiāng 長江).

During the final years of the Song dynasty (sòng cháo 宋朝), China was invaded by Jin (jīn金) people from the north. General Yue Fei led the army in resistance, and defeated the enemy. Just as he was about to take advantage of his victory and attack the Jin army, he received word that the emperor had ordered him to return. As it turned out, this was actually a plot of Chin Hui, a Sung dynasty official who was conspiring with the enemy. In order to frame Yue Fei, Chin Hui had tricked him into returning early.
